Abstract

Consists of two ledger books kept by the First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Pasadena, California, the oldest Black congregation of this denomination in Pasadena. The ledger books document the quarterly meetings, board meeting minutes, reports, and events of the church from 1930-1938.

Consists of two ledger books kept by the First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Pasadena, California, documenting the church's quarterly conferences and official board meetings. The ledgers document the years of the Great Depression under the leadership of Pastor A. R. Dobbins, who was the minister of the church from 1931-1937.

The first ledger provides a record of quarterly conferences of the First AME Church from 1931-1938 consisting of special reports (e.g. from the Stewards Board, Young Women's Missionary Society, etc.), statistical and financial reports, conference rolls, and a record of events.

The second ledger provides a record of the Minutes of the Official Board Meetings of the First AME Church, with Pastor A. R. Dobbins presiding, dating from 1930-1937.
