Content Warning

There are some graphic images of violence in the collection, including bodily injury, execution, dead bodies, and starvation. The collection also contains textual and graphic depictions of war, political persecution, and political unrest.

Scope and Contents

Articles, documents, and information from a variety of Leftist groups, including: reproduced documents from Der Bundesbeauftragte für die Unterlagen des Staatssicherheitsdienstes der ehemaligen Deutschen Demokratischen Republik regarding the RAF; a published booklet from the same group, "...anarcho-terroristische Kräfte - Die Rote Armee Fraktion und die Stasi"; a single issue of Socialisme Maintenant!, No. 6 (new series, Summer 2000). A folder of photocopied articles and book chapters regarding Latin American groups. A folder containing an essay titled "The Palestine National Struggle: The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Transformation of Ideology"; a booklet Ligne Rouge de Knipselkaant; an issue of Documents de Luttes, Cahier Front No. 3 (Summer 1995); Cronache di Diritto del Lavoro 1970-1990 by Giuseppe Pelazza. Three issues of Solidaridad - Por un Socorro Rojo Internacional (SRI), No. 2 (September 2001) through 4 (April 2002); a small book La Memoria es Un Arma (Masacres Andinas) by Juan Cristóbal. Some information, booklets, and documents regarding the CCC, including Cellules Communistes Combattantes - Theorie en praktijk van de guerrilla, Guerrillastrijd in België, a newspaper-style tabloid titled Texte 1984-85, two copies of "Solidarité Prolétarienne avec les Quatre Militants des Cellules Communistes Combattantes en Lutte. Faire le Procès de la Révolution est Impossible", an issue of Action Directe, a single issue of L'Internationale, and a single issue of Internationale Solidarität.

Arrangement

The materials are arranged in the creator's original order – in geographical groups with some exceptions where materials are grouped by format (posters or other oversize material) and by organizational group. Oversize materials remain in their original groups but have been housed separately due to their size.

Bernett Penka purchased the collection from its compiler, Paul Moussault.

Appraisal

The book "RVF: Het Rood Verzetsfront, in het vizier van de geheime dienst" was separated from the collection during 2024 processing.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.
