Consists of four typewritten letters written by Erich Kahler, along with three newspaper clippings.
The first letter, dated September 11, 1944, is addressed to the editor of the Saturday Review of Literature. The second letter is addressed to the editor of the New York Times and is accompanied by a clipping of the printed letter with the heading "Global Responsibility." The date May 29, 1960, is handwritten at the top of both the typewritten letter and the newspaper clipping. The third letter, dated July 5, 1961, is also addressed to the Editor of the New York Times. The attached clipping has the heading "Foreign Policy Assessed" and the handwritten date August 18, 1961. Another clipping from September 1, 1961, contains a response to this letter by Norman Thomas. In the fourth letter, dated February 23, 1968 and addressed to President Lyndon B. Johnson, Kahler shares concern over the possible use of nuclear weapons.
Also present is a stamped envelope that contained the letters, which is addressed to Ms. Alice von Kahler from Stadt Frankfurt am Main, Der Magistrat.
