This collection includes various materials of Alfred Bush (1933-2023) such as manuscripts, photographs, official documents, reprints, copies of articles and reports, and clippings on topics primarily relating to the American West and to a lesser extent Central America representing Bush's research interests and collecting area as Curator of Western Americana and Historic Maps at Princeton University Library.

Bush, Alfred L. (1933-2023)
Alfred L. Bush (1933-2023) was curator of Western Americana and Historic Maps at Princeton University Library from 1962 until 2003. From 1958-1962, Bush served as an editor of the Papers of Thomas Jefferson and published The Life Portraits of Thomas Jefferson (1962). Other works he authored include The Photograph and the American Indian (1994) and Literary Landmarks of Princeton (1968).
Collection History
- Acquisition:
Most materials were a gift of the Alfred Bush Estate in 2024 (AM 2025-006). Some photographs, as indicated in the finding aid, were a gift of Alfred Bush in 2023 (AM 2025-034).

No materials were removed from the collection during 2025 processing beyond routine appraisal practices.
