Abstract
Consists of materials created by graphic arts studio Sonnenzimmer, which has been operated by proprietors Nick Butcher and Nadine Nakanishi since its founding in 2006. Contains books, pamphlets, prints, and posters that span Sonnenzimmer's printed output, as well as some of their earlier, pre-Sonnenzimmer works.

Consists of materials from graphic arts studio Sonnenzimmer, which was founded by artists Nick Butcher and Nadine Nakanishi in 2006. The collection contains over 500 works from Sonnenzimmer's print-focused activity from 2004 to 2022, including: posters, publications, designed objects, music packaging, educational material, and ephemera. Each item was either printed in-house by Sonnenzimmer (fully or in part) or self-published by Sonnenzimmer, including each of the 40 self-published books and record albums they have produced. A large portion of the collection consists of posters. The collection also contains some works created individually by Nick Butcher and Nadine Nakanishi from 2004-2005.

Sonnenzimmer is the Chicago-based, collaborative graphic practice of artists Nick Butcher and Nadine Nakanishi founded in 2006. As a studio and collaborative, they produce printed matter, along with lecturing and leading workshops.

Collection processed and finding aid written by Lauren C. Williams in July-August 2025, based on description and an inventory provided by Sonnenzimmer.

- Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process.
