The collection consists of mail art created by Edgardo Antonio Vigo (1928-1997) and Graciela Gutiérrez Marx (1945-2022), as well as some collaborative projects, under their shared pseudonym G.E. MARXVIGO. Correspondents include Michael Gibbs, Michael Mollett, Bill Gaglione, Carlo Giovanni Cicatelli, Ted Purves, Luke T. McGuff, John Held Jr., and Niels Lomholt (Lomholt Formular Press).

Marx, Graciela Gutiérrez, 1945-2022
Graciela Gutiérrez Marx (1945-2022) was a prominent Argentine artist and educator. Born in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1945. She was a student in the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata and obtained her degree in education and sculpture in 1967. Later she obtained her master's degree in aesthetics and art theory. Marx was introduced to mail art in the late 60s. Marx participated in the first mail art exhibit in 1975 in Argentina entitled "Última exposición internacional de art correo."
Vigo, Edgardo Antonio, 1928-1997
Edgardo Antonio Vigo (1928-1997) was born in La Plata, Argentina in 1928. He was a student at the Universidad de la Plata and graduated with a degree in illustration in 1953. Having encountered the Western avant-garde in the course of a trip to Europe in 1954 and met Jesús Rafael Soto, he began composing his first visual poems. His lifelong passion for wood engraving was embodied in his Museo de la Xilografía de La Plata, a mobile museum without a fixed location, appearing for brief travelling exhibitions. Most of Vigo's creations bear imagery rendered by wood engraving.

- Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form."
