The material in this collection consists of newspapers from Venezuela that are published outside the mainstream and commercial press. Published between 1998 and 2004, the items include a wide range of alternative community newspapers and university newspapers, focusing on local, national, and international issues. All publications in this collection have a generally leftist political orientation. The collection itself is divided into two sections. Within each section, the publications are organized alphabetically by title. Section 1 combines alternative community newspapers, and section 2 contains the university newspapers.
