Abstract

This collection contains church materials published or distributed by Protestant organizations in various Cuban cities and provinces.

Collection Description & Creator Information

Scope and Contents

This collection contains church materials published or distributed by Protestant organizations in various Cuban cities and provinces. These materials include church bulletins, evangelical tracts, children's educational items, serials, monographs, pamphlets, and flyers. The bulk of the documents date from the 1990s and 2000s, although a few items, particularly early issues of serials, are from earlier decades.

Arrangement

Publications are listed alphabetically under the name of the organization that publishes or distributes them and may be mixed in terms of geographical origin. In the cases of certain denominations, such as the Baptist or Methodist Churches, there may be several sections pertaining to that particular denomination, as well as subsections concerning either different branches of the same denomination (e.g.: Southern Baptists, Free Will Baptists, or American Baptists), or individual churches of that denomination that publish a significant amount of this material (e.g.: Iglesia Metodista Central "La Trinidad", or Iglesia Metodista Universitaria "Miguel Soto Asensi"). Some items are published outside of Cuba but distributed by religious organizations on the island, and they are grouped here with the organization that distributes them.

General

The Protestant serials Heraldo Cristiano, Juprecu and Su Voz were formerly microfilmed under the title "Protestant Serials in Cuba". They have been included here and will be included in future collections in this series. Two other serials, Mensaje and Salvación, which were also part of the in the "Cuban Protestant Serials" microfilm series, will be included from now on in the series of collections entitled "Non-denominational Christian Organizations in Cuba". This latter series deals with religious organizations which are not known to be associated specifically with either Protestant or Catholic churches.
