Collection Description & Creator Information

Scope and Contents

This collection contains pamphlets, bulletins, posters, and other miscellaneous items addressing a variety of agrarian issues in Peru, including farming techniques and practices, environmental concerns, land reform, political-economic aspects of agriculture, and the controversy over coca production. The material is produced by a range of sources, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), agrarian and peasant organizations, and state entities. Among the aims of the items in this collection are education and historical documentation. It is significant to note that while the collection encompasses a more than eighty year time span (1920-2003), only four of the documents were printed before the 1980s.

Arrangement

The material is arranged into seven files. Files 1 through 3, which comprise Series 1: Subject Files, each cover specific subject areas relating to agrarian issues in Peru. The material in these files is arranged alphabetically by publishing organization; within each publishing organization, the items are ordered chronologically according to year of publication. Whenever possible, periodicals have been identified by title in the inventory. Series 2: Serials, consists of Files 4 through 7. These contain serial publications directly connected to agrarian issues. The items in these files are arranged chronologically according to year of publication.

In the case of undated documents, the symbol "s.d." indicates that no date is available, or brackets are used to indicate the approximate year of publication. Undated items are either placed with other undated material at the beginning of the publishing institution's section, or among other material whose dates of publication are approximately the same.

Material from unidentified publishers is labeled "Miscellaneous."
