Series 1: Writings, 1899-1955
Collection Description & Creator Information
- Scope and Contents
The Writings Series consists of appointment books, engagement books, and speeches written and maintained by Edge. The appointment and engagement books contain calendars which document times, locations, and individuals involved in specific meetings, as well as some notes. The bulk of the books were maintained while Edge was United States Ambassador to France (1929-1933). The speeches focus primarily on his tenure as Ambassador to France, although several addresses from his second term as governor are also included.
The Writings Series is arranged alphabetically by subject.
Various books, stock receipts, and galley proofs of Edge's autobiographical work, A Jerseyman's Journal, have been separated from the collection.
These papers were processed with an operating support grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State.
