The Writings, Legislative Record, Press Releases, and Appointment Books Series consists of documents either created by or directly related to Peter Frelinghuysen. The writings include speeches and remarks written for and printed in the Congressional Record. Also included in the writings grouping are newsletters intended for Frelinghuysen's constituency. Frelinghuysen's legislative record includes both printed copies of bills he introduced or sponsored and his complete voting history. Another item of note includes interest group rankings of members of Congress according to their voting record. The press releases were created by Frelinghuysen's office; the bulk is either campaign or legislation related. The appointment books log Frelinghuysen's House-related daily activities.

The Writings, Legislative Record, Press Releases, and Appointment Books Series is grouped according to document type. The folders are arranged chronologically within the groups.
Collection History
- Appraisal
Portions of constituent correspondence, invitations, published books, and material related to the Judiciary Committee and Watergate were separated in 1993. Duplicate copies of printed reports to Congress and newspaper clippings were separated during processing in 2008.

Single photocopies may be made for research purposes. For quotations that are fair use as defined under U. S. Copyright Law, no permission to cite or publish is required. For those few instances beyond fair use, researchers are responsible for determining who may hold the copyright and obtaining approval from them. Researchers do not need anything further from the Mudd Library to move forward with their use.
- Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.
