Meiman worked as a legislative assistant during Bradley's third congressional term. Meiman dealt with a range of health and medical issues, from government programs and intervention to specific illnesses. She did extensive research regarding reforms in Medicare and Medicaid, especially in conjunction with the budget reconciliation legislation of 1994 and 1995. Meiman also focused on private health insurance and managed care.

In addition to national health care interests, Meiman worked substantially on maternal and child health care. This research centered mainly on the Newborns' and Mothers' Health Protection Act of 1995 (S. 969), a significant piece of legislation cosponsored by Bradley and Nancy Kassebaum of Kansas. This bill would require insurance companies to extend their coverage of maternity hospital stays to 48 hours.

Appraisal

During the first round of processing, from 1999-2001, each file was reviewed and the following record types were discarded: newspaper and magazine clippings without markings; widely-available publications from the federal government, senate, lobbying groups, and political action committees; copies of bills and senate resolutions, unless marked; position papers; empty envelopes; copies and duplicates of materials already in the collection; empty files; and congressional record statements or introductions to amendments and bills.

During processing of the 2023 accrual, approximately 57 boxes of candidate material boxes were returned to the donor, having already been eliminated during appraisal of the original collection. Additionally 2 boxes of campaign focus group audio and video recordings were returned to donor.
