Collection Overview

Collection Description & Creator Information

Scope and Contents

The majority of Aronoff's files relate to Bradley's first and second terms in Congress as she served as Administrative Assistant. Aronoff was the driving force in Bradley's office, wielding a great deal of influence with Bradley and the staff. Her files reflect the diversity of Bradley's interest as well as providing a glimpse at the national picture during those years.

Aronoff's files are divided into three sections: Topical, People and Memoranda. The first is an alphabetical run of Aronoff's office files. These were kept by Aronoff and demonstrate a level of control over the daily operation of Bradley's office.

The emphasis of this collection is focused in areas such as energy and finance. Bradley topics such as strategic petroleum reserve, natural gas, water rights and fair tax are prominent. Additionally, New Jersey specific concerns are represented.

The topical files contain information on every issue the Bradley staff, especially Aronoff herself, dealt with until 1991. Aronoff worked on legislation dealing with abortion, which is reflected, in this collection. Aronoff's position required her to be involved with a wide range of topics that occurred in Congress during this time period. Information was passed on from legislative assistants to Aronoff before heading to Bradley's desk. Aronoff was a source of stability in the Bradley office until her departure in 1991.

Arrangement

Files are arranged alphabetically; the order in which files came to Princeton has been maintained.
