Collection Description & Creator Information

Description:

The collection consists of the papers of Kummer: manuscript plays, musical compositions, songs, verse, and correspondence. The manuscripts span Kummer's career, from her early popular songs, such as "The Summerland Song" (1901) and "Dearie" (1905), to her many dramatic works.

Included are The Opera Ball (1912), a musical comedy written in collaboration with Sydney Rosenfeld; A Successful Calamity (prod. 1917) in which her cousin, William Gillette performed; Rollo's Wild Oat (prod. 1920); Good Gracious Annabelle (1916), later produced by Florenz Ziegfeld as a musical entitled Annie Dear; and her last Broadway success, Her Master's Voice, produced by Max Gordon in 1933.
