This subseries contains the minutes of the Governing Council from the merger of the undergraduate organizations in 1928 to the present. In addition, the minutes of some Assembly meetings (meetings of the entire Society membership) are interspersed in the early 1930s. The minutes for many years appear to be incomplete and some years are missing altogether.

This series includes files maintained by Imbrie regarding the University. They include correspondence, clippings and reports related to Imbrie's service as Financial Secretary; clippings, correspondence and publications regarding the Graduate School controversy which occurred while Imbrie held his University office; records, correspondence, reports, publications clippings on Princeton architecture and the "Quad Plan;" correspondence and records relating to the Graduate Council Freshman Honor Prize; and memoranda and reports on the progress of reorganization of student social life at Princeton.

The William K. Selden Collection on Eating Clubs contains research materials collected by Selden for the publication, Club Life at Princeton; An Historical Account of the Upper-Class Eating Clubs at Princeton University. Selden donated the material to the Archives in 1994.

Documents regarding Taos Pueblo legal position.

Like other Taos Blue Lake collections at Princeton, the Rufus G. Poole Papers chronicle a portion of the fight by New Mexico's Taos Indians to regain land taken from them in the 1906 creation of the Carson National Forest.Rufus G. Poole (1902 - 1968), a New York attorney who had settled in New Mexico for health reasons, was a regional attorney for tie Association on American Indian Affairs when the Pueblo retained him as a special liaison to Senator Clinton P. Anderson (1895-1975') in 1966. Anderson, a powerful New Mexico Senator, was opposed to congressional legislation which would return large amounts of land to the Pueblo directly; his opposition was enough to keep Blue Lake restoration legislation bottled up in Senate committees. Poole was hired to mollify Anderson's strident opposition. Not until President Richard Nixon issued an endorsement of the Blue Lake restoration bill in 1970, however, was the Pueblo able to see its long fight come to a successful end.The Rufus G. Poole Papers include copies of Poole's correspondence regarding the Blue Lake case and his role as special attorney to the Pueblo. Also included are copies of materials relating to Poole's role as a founding member of the National Committee for the Restoration of the Blue Lake Lands. Poole and other Pueblo supporters founded the National Committee in 1967, following a break with the Association on American Indian Affairs, included in the collection are copies of correspondence exchanged between Poole and William C. Schaab (1927--), tie Albuquerque attorney who replaced Poole as special attorney (at Poole's suggestion). Documentation regarding tie history of the Blue Lake case, contained in Box 3, was prepared by Schaab.

The General subseries consists mainly of correspondence, memoranda, printed material, and reports that communicate the events and transformations that took place at the Tower Club. Some of these events were independent of the Princeton Prospect Foundation, but most are directly related to the Foundation. Also included are fundraising mailings sent to Tower Club members and alumni. The financial statements of the Tower Club are also incorporated into this subseries, as well as Tower Club newsletters. This subseries also contains operating procedures for the undergraduate officers of the Tower Club, compiled by former officers. There are also copies of the by-laws and certificate of incorporation for the Tower Club.

These letters include several letters from the University president, Harold Dodds.

The Academic series contains audiovisual materials pertaining to class lectures, presentations, and field studies. The Lectures and Interviews series contain public addresses, lectures, and debates.

The Correspondence series documents Martindell's personal as well as professional life. The series contains family letters as well as those relating to her time in the New Jersey State Senate, State Department, and time as ambassador. There are also letters regarding her activities in New Jersey politics and as an early backer of Jimmy Carter, the head of the Women's Division of the Democratic Party, and an influential financer of campaigns. Many of the letters contain information about both her personal life and her career and political activities. Of special note are folders of letters from Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, and Frank Thompson. Additionally there are letters from Bill Bradley, Brendan T. Byrne, Robert Torricelli, Ronald Reagan, and Gary Hart.

Series 1, Biographical Data, 1865-1961, contains personal information regarding Corwin's retirement, finances, and appointments, honors and awards. This series also contains bibliographies listing Corwin's works.

Series 1: Biographical Material/Reading Lists consists of three folders, the first containing biographical sketches, most geared toward submission to the editor of Who's Who in America. The second folder contains articles concerning Earle's education and career (e.g. Earle's Armistice Day Speech in November 1941). Earle's personal reading lists include lists of American History volumes and assorted fiction titles.

C. Pardee Foulke was a prominent Philadelphia businessman. The C. Pardee Foulke Papers on Woodrow Wilson contain an unpublished biography of Woodrow Wilson.

Series 1: Public Policy Seminars contains the final papers, and sometimes additional course materials, from the eponymous junior and senior level courses that have been a capstone of the undergraduate experience in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy since its founding. The "Creator" names listed below indicate the Professor who taught the seminar.

Includes photocopies of non-email correspondence as well as newspaper clippings, articles, brochures, and other printed resources, partly found among materials held at the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library.

Brooke R. Stoddard, Class of 2005 is a member of the University Press Club (UPC), who wrote a senior thesis about the history of the UPC in 2005. The collection contains correspondence and interviews with Princeton UPC alumni that Stoddard used for his research, as well as copies of clippings and printed materials.

Harold R. Medina was a well-known judge and active Princeton alumnus. These records document Judge Harold Medina's role as a trustee of Princeton University, a member of the Graduate Council, and a member of the advisory council for modern languages and literatures.

John Foster Dulles (1888-1959), was a graduate of the Princeton Class of 1908 who served as Secretary of State of the United States for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The John Foster Dulles Collection consists of a small group of materials documenting Dulles' connection to Princeton, including materials on his undergraduate career and the Dulles Library.

The Papers of Frederick H. Osborn, Class of 1910, (1889-1981) cover some of Osborn's service to, and interest in, the University as a charter trustee from 1943-1955 and as a member of several advisory boards, including the Curriculum Committee and Psychology Department Council.

John Cleve Green was a Princeton-area businessman and investor who was a notable benefactor of Princeton College primarily during the administration of President James McCosh. The John Cleve Green Collection consists of research materials compiled regarding the life of John Cleve Green and his contributions to Princeton University.

Series 3: Printed material contains newspaper clippings and magazine articles about the Veterans of Future Wars, arranged in chronological order. Most of the material postdating the organization's cessation of activities was integrated into the collection from the Princeton University Subject Files, Student Activities.

Series 4: Scrapbook was created by Urban Joseph Peters Rushton '36, Southern Regional Commander, to record the activities of the Veterans of Future Wars. materials include clippings (1936-1947), membership cards and Organizational materials used by the Veterans of Future Wars.

The Veterans of Future Wars Collection, consists of materials dating from the organization's parodical foundation as a Princeton-based student movement in 1936 through its eventual petering-out in 1937. The materials beyond the organization's cessation of activities deal with the Veterans of Future Wars' short but emphatic existence. The collection consists primarily of correspondence of the National Council members (all Princeton University undergraduates), the organization's nation-wide Posts, and its various auxiliary support groups. Also included are speeches and debates, press releases, poems, plays and songs written for the organization, photographs of both official and personal nature, and newspaper clippings.

This series consists of bulk of the senior theses in our collection representing each of the academic departments of the university. Senior theses in this series appear in variety of formats including microfiche, bound volumes, unbound paper copies and digital files. Since its introduction in the mid-1920s the senior thesis has been a core element of the undergraduate curriculum at Princeton University. The collection contains the senior theses of Princeton undergraduates.

The Correspondence series is composed of letters to and from Garrison in his capacity of Secretary of War with government and military officials and concerned citizens. The correspondence includes discussions of military policy and world events, as well as business pleasantries such as invitations, letters of introduction, letters of appreciation for materials received, requests for photographs and statements, and travel itineraries. The majority of the correspondence is concerned with World War I, including military preparedness, legislation effecting the military, training and cadet candidacy at West Point, enlistments and retirements, awards and medical care for military personnel, and aiding American citizens who were in Europe. The correspondence also discusses other issues that fell under the auspices of the War Department, including addressing violence along the border with Mexico during a civil war, the Panama Canal, the Philippines, a strike in Colorado, and water issues.

Series 2: Course Materials, 1903-1970, documents the 1950s and 1960s especially well but includes some materials dated before Slaby's tenure (including one student drawing project from 1903). The series is comprised of course proposals and descriptions, lecture notes, problem sets, student projects, tests, and exams, arranged in that order. Most of the papers are from Slaby's courses, but other professors such as Heacock and Lindgren have material preserved in the series. The courses best represented are engineering graphics, descriptive geometry and engineering drawing. Two oversized graphics projects from the early 1900s, inscribed "Crosby" and "L. Sullenberger," are housed separately in the Oversize Collection.

This series contains letters, memoranda, press clippings, and notes to and from classmates, family members and friends. The series also contains monthly newsletters (1943-1946) from J.K. Lasser, accountant, with information and news on the war-time economy.

The Diaries Subseries consists of Myers' diaries, which he maintained throughout his life. The diaries serve as evidence of Myers' activities and consist mostly of dates, engagements, and reminders. Myers often gave brief descriptions of his daily activities and offer a glimpse of his work habits and processes. A bulk of the entries are not lengthy. For additional information on Myers' daily activities, please see the engagements books in Subseries 1E: Miscellaneous.

Series 1: Songbooks, 1854-2009 contains books and booklets of brief musical compositions written or adapted for singing, beginning with deluxe editions of Princeton University's most beloved song, "Old Nassau." At the end of this series are a number of individual songs, including class odes from the last quarter of the nineteenth century.

Series 2: Sheet Music, 1849-1995 contains music printed on unbound sheets. While most of the music in this series was written about Princeton, it also includes a small amount of sheet music unrelated to Princeton.

Series 1: the Henry W. H. Baker Files, contains correspondence, including typescripts of Hobey A. H. Baker correspondence and notes collected by Baker in 1959. Baker was a nephew of Hobart A. H. Baker and was interested in the legacy of his uncle.

Series 5: Printed Material (1910-1918) contains articles from various newspapers and news magazines on Hobey Baker's career as an athlete, a member of the American Expeditionary Force during World War I and an address by President John Grier Hibben of Princeton University at Baker's memorial service in 1918.

This collection contains early scores and lyrics to Princeton University's alma mater "Old Nassau" as well as information about the song and the men who created it.

Consists of presentation boards related to the design, construction, renovation, and expansion of Princeton University's grounds and buildings. This collection contains presentation boards related to the design, construction, renovation and expansion of Princeton's grounds and buildings. In addition, the boards include those used for planning purposes, student housing strategies, insurance purposes and recording of features such as fallout shelters, and electrical feeders. The boards primarily include floorplans, artistic renderings, elevations and campus footprints.

The Student Photograph Albums Series of the Historical Photograph Collection (HPC) contains 180 photographic albums created by Princeton University students. These albums, along with the other photograph collections in the University Archives, help document the experiences of students, faculty, and staff at Princeton University. The albums date from 1851 to 1995, although the bulk date from the 1860s to the 1910s. New accessions are added regularly to the collection.

Series 1: Production Files, 1919-1996 consists of correspondence, clippings, records, photographs, scripts, printed materials, etc. related to Theatre Intime productions.

Lee was concerned with publicity for himself as much as for his clients. He had his office write up a number of biographical sketches on him and would reprint favorable articles on himself for interested individuals. Many of the biographies are rather short and repetitive. Included in this subseries is an interview with Ivy Lee, Jr. concerning his father and a masters thesis on Lee, Ivy Lee: Founder of the Public Relations Concept. The researcher may also want to consult various Princeton University senior theses on Lee, listed under "Related Material."

Lee planned a trip with his family and a few friends across the country by rail in the summer of 1926, saving the itinerary and many news clippings of the trip collected over the journey. "The Trip Over the Harriman Lines" volume from 1907 contains letters of introduction, itineraries, and rail passes, along with various souvenirs collected during the journey.

This series includes a variety of material relating to Ivy Lee's personal life. The researcher will find information on Lee's immediate family. Lee would at times in his personal correspondence write on issues related to his professional life, and the researcher may want to look at the correspondence with Rev. James W. Lee, Cornelia Lee, and James W. Lee II.

Series 1: Student Academic Work Collection, 1862-1985 consists of essays, notes on readings, laboratory notebooks, drawings and similar academic work products created by Princeton students.

Originally established in 1912 as the Self-Help Bureau, the Office of Career Services is an organizational unit of the Office of the Vice President for Campus Life that provides career resources and programming for both undergraduate and graduate students. The records include three bound volumes of annual reports from the Princeton University Office of Career Services spanning the years 1943 to 1977. Topics covered include alumni appointments, work-study, study services and academic support.

Series 1: Antioch Excavation Financial Records, 1935-1938 consists of detailed expense vouchers from the second half of the excavation of Antioch. Each voucher lists a single expense, its cost, and its purpose. Also included as expenses are purchases of antiquities found during the excavation.

The Association of Hiroshima University for Sending Atomic-bombed Roof Tiles distributes the tiles in an effort to perpetuate awareness of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and to oppose the use and proliferation of nuclear weapons. The collection includes seven atomic-bombed roof tiles; photographs of the location where the roof tiles were recovered; booklets and pamphlets on the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; and information and correspondence from Hiroshima University.

Series 1: Princeton Athletics Scrapbooks and Clippings, circa 1914-1967 consists of scrapbooks and sets of clippings about sports and athletes at Princeton. It includes materials about Hobey Baker, Bill Bradley, and Princeton University football.

Organized competitive athletics appeared on the Princeton campus in the 1850s and 1860s through the formation of intramural and intercollegiate athletics clubs which evolved over the ensuing century into the modern collegiate athletic system. The collection consists of scrapbooks and sets of clippings about sports and athletes at Princeton.

James Penrose Harland was a graduate of the Princeton University Class of 1913. The collection consists of James Penrose Harland's diaries, as well as clippings, photographs, postcards, and some correspondence.

Francis Catlin was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1947. The collection contains materials distributed at the 1947 Bicentennial Convocation celebrating Princeton University's 200th anniversary.

The Princeton Print Club was founded in late 1940 by a group of students seeking to advance the appreciation of graphic arts among the campus community. The records consist of financial accounts, correspondence, and pamphlets which document the activities and membership of the Princeton Print Club.

Frederick Quellmalz Jr. was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1934 and one of the founding members of the Princeton Camera Club, a student organization devoted to photography. This collection consists of print photographs and negatives primarily from the 1930s taken by Quellmalz Jr. and other Club members.

George "Bob" Vaughn, Jr., Class of 1919, was a decorated World War I pilot and a pioneer in the aviation field. The collection consists of newspaper clippings, scrapbook pages, photographs, filmed interviews, an autobiographical manuscript and other materials that document the life and aeronautical career of George Vaughn.

Ralph Barton Perry was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1896, a Harvard Philosophy Professor, and a Pulitzer-Prize winning writer producing works on philosophy, history, and politics in his lifetime. The Ralph Barton Perry Papers consist of correspondence, speeches, clippings, and other materials documenting Ralph Barton Perry's life as an alumnus of the Princeton Class of 1896.

The Pyne Honor Prize, established in 1922 in honor of Moses Taylor Pyne '77, is the highest distinction conferred on an undergraduate student at Princeton University. The collection documents the annual awarding of the Pyne Honor Prize from 1939-1960. Within each year's file is correspondence, biographical and academic information about the recipients, and award statements.

The Committee on Safety and Insurance was an administrative organization that dealt with occupational safety and insurance issues throughout University facilities and departments. The records consist of Commitee minutes, accident reports, insurance policies, general subject files, and correspondence.

Series 1: Materials from the Princeton University Archives Oversize Collection, circa 1807-1983 contains oversize items from the University archives that do not fit well into existing archival collections. These include advertisements for a variety of events and activities, memorial and congratualtory notices, certificates and diplomas awarded to Princeton, as well as certificates and diplomas awarded by Princeton to other insitutions.

John "Judge" Cobb Cooper (1887-1967) was a Princeton University graduate and a pioneer in the field of Aerospace Law. The collection is composed of correspondence and other materials pertaining to Cooper's activities as Curator of Class Records and as an active member of the Friends of the Library and the Graduate Council.

The Princeton Crusader Fellowship is a Christian reform organization founded by a group of Princeton students on Commencement Day in 1912. The records consist of member lists, constitutions, speeches, articles, newsletters, and correspondence of the Princeton Crusader Fellowship.

Jerome Karabel is an American sociologist known for his research on university admissions policies. Consists of materials compiled by Jerome Karabel while researching for his 2005 book The Chosen: The Hidden History of Admission and Exclusion at Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. The papers contain correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other documents.

The collection consists of contemporary documents pertaining to five of the lotteries held in the eighteenth century to raise funds for the colonial College of New Jersey. Also included is some secondary source material about the lotteries.

Series 1: Football Scrapbooks, 1924-1969 consists of bound scrapbooks assembled by George R. Beach documenting Princeton's football team. The scrapbooks contain game programs as well as articles from the Princeton Alumni Weekly and other local papers.

Series 1: Cleveland Memorial Tower Visitor Logs consists of 11 log books signed by visitors to the Cleveland Memorial Tower.

Included as part of the final gothic design of Princeton's Graduate School was a 173-foot tower, a national memorial to former U.S. President Grover Cleveland who was also chairman of the trustees' graduate school committee. The collection consists of 11 log books signed by visitors to the Cleveland Memorial Tower.

Series 1: Princeton Inn Records, 1922-1970 consists primarily of the minute books of the Princeton Inn Company, which generally discuss the financial state of the Inn, and cover both the Inn Company's incorporation (and Alumni appeal for funding) as well as the final sale of the Inn and its assets to the University. It also includes an oversized form book containing examples of various forms and vouchers used at the hotel.

Series 1: The Papers of Thomas Jeffersion Project, 1943-1974 documents the Thomas Jefferson Papers Project from its conception and initial proposal in 1943 until the death of its first editor Julian P. Boyd in 1980. Contained in the records is correspondence with Princeton presidents Harold T. Dodds and Robert F. Goheen, who were active advisors in the early years of the project. Other notable correspondence is with Jefferson scholars, board members of the New York Times, and Jefferson Papers Project advisory board members. Also included are financial records, including Boyd's original cost estimations for the project. Other materials consist of an initial project proposal, annual reports, directives on handling of materials, typography, and editing procedures, and some photographs.

The metal stencils portion of the collection consists of a nearly complete run of stencils for the years 1921 through 1973, however, there are no stencils representing the years 1941, 1957, 1965, 1967 or 1969.

Thomas J. Wertenbaker was a professor of history at Princeton from 1910 to 1936, serving as department chairman from 1928-1936.

Following a fire that destroyed the University Gymnasium in 1944, a committee was formed by the Council of Athletics for the purpose of replacing as many of the athletic trophies of the University as possible. The collection consists of the records of the Council on Athletics Trophy Committee, including subject files containing photographs, drawings, purchase orders, and other general information about the trophies.

The Track Rosters folder contains men's and women's track rosters.

The Track Field and Cross Country Materials series contains rosters, meet schedules, programs, score cards, results, clippings and press releases related to Princeton Men's and Women's Track Field and Cross Country.

The Biographical subseries contains information concerning George McGovern's WWII service as a B-24 pilot flying missions out of Cerignola, Northern Italy. This series includes maps of targets in Europe as well as aerial photographs of the bomb drops in progress. Researchers interested in George McGovern's WWII service may find additional photographs in the Photographs series.

Series 1: Correspondence and Related Material contains general correspondence to and from (mostly to) Tobey while he was living and teaching in Samsun Turkey.

Consists mainly of correspondence and manuscripts of Tobey (Princeton Class of 1940) from the period (1955-1976) when he was a member of the staff of the Turkish Ministry of Education in Samsun, Turkey, teaching English.

Includes letters and memoranda to and from Edwin W. Kemmerer.

Box 8 contains primarily publications about India, including books, booklets, and pamphlets, as well as some transcripts of lectures and speeches. Much of the material was printed in India, as well as in England and the United States, and ranges from 1922 to 2006. The publications include a booklet by Upendra Baxi on reading Granville Austin's The Indian Constitution, Indian government white papers, Indian Communist Party publications from the 1970s and 1980s, a directory and biographies of Indian government officials from the late 1980s, and a booklet of Indian Constitutional amendments from 1986—among many others. Other material in this box includes a Republic Day Parade invitation and program (1991) and two folders of Austin's research notes from the 1990s.

Box 18 contains research and source material for Working a Democratic Constitution, primarily photocopies and clippings, compiled around the early 1990s. Many of the photocopies have been tabbed by one of Austin's research assistants with title, subject, and/or date. The box also includes some original handwritten notes. The box was labeled with a sticky note "Indian Constitution; Preventive Detention; Fundamental Rights; Liberty; Press." Some of the photocopied article subjects are: the Preventive Detention Act, Defense of India Ordinance, the restriction of liberties in Israel, the Bennett Coleman case, human rights, liberty in the press, women and social justice, freedom of speech, Supreme Court, the Emergency. Articles here were originally printed between 1939 and 1997. Date ranges on folders reflect the original dates of photocopied material.

The Biographical series includes biographical sketches, photographs, and Spahr's resume, as well as materials from his participation in economics organizations and his correspondence with the University of Oregon concerning the possible donation of his papers to that institution.

Series 1: Correspondence and Related Materials includes correspondence to and from Scott as well as reports and meeting minutes of organizations where Scott was a member of the Board or otherwise involved.

Consists of papers of Scott relating, for the most part, to his positions as chairman of the General Munitions Board during World War I, co-founder and chairman of the War Industries Board (1917), chief of the Cleveland Ordnance District (1924-1928), and adviser to the Army Industrial College (1925).

The letters in Series 1: Correspondence are primarily personal in nature, though some business correspondence is also included. Most of the correspondence dates from the Birds' time living in the Middle East and India in the 1960s and 1970s, though there are also letters that predate and postdate Eugene's tenure with the Foreign Service. In addition to the Birds' outgoing letters describing their lives to family and friends, the series also contains a large portion of letters that the Birds received from their children and from other Foreign Service families.

Roland S. (Sletor) Morris was a leader of the Democratic Party in Pennsylvania and was the ambassador to Japan from 1917-1921. The Roland S. Morris Papers consist of correspondence, diaries, writings, and other materials that document Morris's family life, political involvement in the Democratic Party, and his position as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 1917-1921.

The Allied Mission to Observe Greek Elections was established when on September 19, 1945 the Governments of Britain, France, and the United States accepted the Greek Government's invitation to send observers for the general elections and plebiscite to be held in 1946. The collection consists of correspondence, circulars, memos, press extracts, and and maps, including one annotated map depicting the locations of headquarters among the country.
