This series contains the writings of Juan José Saer, including extensive notebooks, manuscripts of essays and criticism, written responses to interviews, notes and partial drafts of novels, poems, notes and drafts of short stories, and other prose writing.

Series 1 primarily pertains to the land and water rights of specific American Indian tribes or peoples. Most of the communities represented by Byler are native to the Southwest, especially Arizona, though issues related to tribes and peoples residing in Washington state, the Midwest, and the Southeast are also documented.

Series 2 is composed of publications, drafts of legislation, memoranda, correspondence, court documents, and other materials related to issues impacting multiple tribes or the Native American community as a whole. Topics documented include land claims, water rights (especially as they pertain to the Central Arizona Project), mining, child welfare, religious freedom, education, tribal governance, and social services (the latter three issues particularly as they pertain to Public Law 93-638, the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act).

Series 3 contains administrative materials from Gerard, Byler and Associates and William Byler Associates, including the firms' financial statements, contracts between Byler's firms and his American Indian tribal clients, and invoices sent to the tribes for Byler's legal services.

Series 4 is composed of papers from legislative campaigns that were generated by consultant Fraser Barron and collected by William Byler, including notes, correspondence, government documents, and reports. The papers mostly pertain to the Havasupai tribe's claims to territory in the Grand Canyon and the water rights of other Arizona tribes.

This series contains materials related to Barron's books, including handwritten and typed drafts, concept summaries, author notes and outlines, original artwork and maps, and galleys, along with related editorial correspondence, book covers, promotional materials, book posters and displays, and copies of published books, including international editions from Europe, Asia, and South America. Barron's early drafts are most often written by hand on notepads, accompanied by later typed drafts. Materials are comprehensive, pertaining to Barron's published fiction and nonfiction writings, as well as some unpublished and early works. While promotional materials related to each book are present in files on that book, there is also a file group of promotional materials and awards related to Barron's writings in general.

This series contains copies and printouts of articles, essays, speeches, book talk prompts, forwards and introductions, letters to editors and congressmen, drafts of social media posts, newsletters, and informal writings by T. A. Barron, as well as some articles by others about him and interviews. Materials span a wide range of topics, including his books, environmental activism, politics, education, writing, inspirational topics, service, and other subjects. Also present are video files of Barron's talks and readings stored on DVDs and USB flash drives, many of which are available online through his social media platforms.
