Series 1: Correspondence and Related Materials includes correspondence to and from Scott as well as reports and meeting minutes of organizations where Scott was a member of the Board or otherwise involved.

The materials in this series are arranged into two chronological groups: 1912-1919 and 1920-1940. Within each group materials are arranged alphabetically by correspondent last name or name of organization or committee.

Series 2: Speeches by Frank A. Scott consists of speeches on topics such as military policy and industrial preparednes in times of war given by Frank A. Scott from 1914-1927.

The speeches in this series are arranged in chronological order in two groups: 1914-1927 and 1928-1940.

Series 3: Speeches by Persons other than Frank A. Scott consists of a collection of speeches and addresses on topics related to Scott's war work and industrial preparedness as well as speeches given before the Army Industrial and War Colleges.

Series 4: Printed Clippings includes newspaper clippings collected from 1914-1928 related to Scott's professional interests in military policy and industrial preparedness.

The materials in this series are arranged in chronological order, some in files and some in a scrapbook.

Series 5: Photographs (Autographed) includes photographs of Scott's colleagues.

The photographs in this series are arranged alphabetically by the last name of the person in the photograph.

Scope and Contents

Consists of papers of Scott relating, for the most part, to his positions as chairman of the General Munitions Board during World War I, co-founder and chairman of the War Industries Board (1917), chief of the Cleveland Ordnance District (1924-1928), and adviser to the Army Industrial College (1925). Included are speeches by Scott and others, correspondence (1912-1954) including letters from Newton D. Baker, Palmer E. Pierce, and Bernard M. Baruch, reports, minutes of meetings, journal notes, printed matter, clippings, and photographs of army officers and friends.

Frank Augustus Scott held the positions of chairman of the General Munitions Board during World War I, co-founder and chairman of the War Industries Board (1917), chief of the Cleveland Ordnance District (1924-1928), and adviser to the Army Industrial College (1925).

Acquisition:

Gift of Mrs. Frank A. Scott in 1967 . Available information indicates subsequent additions to the collection from Mrs. Scott in 1968 and 1971.
