One leather-bound book.

Letter book recording outgoing correspondence for the period between January 27, 1808 and January 25, 1809. This copybook was kept by Gabriel de Iturbe e Iraeta, patriarch and head of the Iturbe's commercial enterprise from 1797-1812. A section of leaves containing letters written between June 16 and July 23 1808 is missing from the copybook.

Virtually all of the correspondence addresses commercial and business matters, and reflects the wide range of the Iturbe family's business interests and activities. Among the numerous recipients of the letters figure prominent merchants, miners, landowners and government officials from Mexico and other parts of the Spanish colonies as well as Spain. Many of the letters, however, discuss as well as a variety of personal or family-related matters.
