Collection Description & Creator Information
- Content Description
Consists of a letter to Jane Cleveland Burnett written on St. Luke's Hospital letterhead, signed by George H. Jenks, June 15, 1878, San Francisco, California. The letter-sheet contains an engraved illustration of the hospital on the reverse with a caption describing the hospital facilities. The illustration is signed W. C. Butler, 535 Clay St.
Dr. George H. Jenks, the superintendent of St. Luke's Hospital, writes to Mrs. W. C. Burnett, who was President of the St. Luke's Mite Society, to update her on the furnishings for the hospital buildings. He is pleased with the small tables that just came and requests a new wringer for the laundress.
The engraving's caption describes in some detail the hospital buildings, including store-rooms, employees' rooms, the Female Ward, the Main Building, the Male Ward, and a building for surgical patients. A key identifies five buildings.
