- Scope and Contents
The collection contains three manuscripts of Poole (Princeton Class of 1902): a holograph, 283-page rough draft of his novel Millions (1922); Silent Storms (1927), 401 typed pages, with holograph corrections and additions; and "The Room with Ribboned Walls" (1925), 18 holograph pages. Also included are miscellaneous papers and correspondence.
- Collection Creator Biography:
Poole
A graduate of Princeton University (1902), Ernest Poole was a journalist who promoted social reform and a prolific novelist. His Family (1917) won the first Pulitzer Prize for the novel in 1918.
- Acquisition:
"The Room with Ribboned Walls" purchased from "Mott". Manuscripts of "Millions" and "Silent Storms", gift of Ernest Cook Poole. Prints from "American Quaterly", gift of Henry Dan Piper. AM77-147, 14107-14108.

The collection was formed as a result of a Departmental practice of combining into one collection material of various accessions relating to a particular person, family, or subject.

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process.
