- Scope and Contents
Title from manuscript caption on recto. This photograph is seriously damaged. In the center a Native American on horseback is looking at the camera wearing a flat-topped broad brimmed hat, his hair in braids. He has on a light colored shirt and a dark vest. He has a dark blanket around his waist, he is wearing white stockings and moccasins. He has a lariat tied to his saddle. A part of the center part of the photograph has been torn off. On the left, behind the central horseman are other Native Americans on horseback.
A triangular area on the right of the photograph, about 1 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/4 inches has been torn off the mount, including the top layer of the mount. The right edge of the mount is also torn from the top to about half way down. On the back of the mount, along the same edge - now the left edge - paper has been torn off the surface of the mount and in the upper left hand corner is a big pool of a congealed liquid, possibly glue, possibly food. Other flaws in the image include a crackled area at the top of the photograph and developing flaws in the left half of the photograph. Back of mount has grey flower pattern, with stains in the top right corner.
