Non-unique, printed materials such as book and journal publications were removed from the collection during the 2016 processing.

Processing Information

This collection was processed by Elvia Arroyo-Ramirez with the assistance of Isabella Litke and Ann-Elise Siden in May 2016. Processing of the born-digital material was done by Elvia Arroyo-Ramirez, Ann-Elise Siden, and Jarrett Drake in June 2016. Finding aid written by Elvia Arroyo-Ramirez in June 2016.

Additional materials were processed by Armando Suárez in 2021.

Audiovisual materials from this collection were digitized in 2017.

Access & Use

Conditions Governing Access

The majority of the collection is open for research.

These boxes (B-000765, B-000766 and B-000767) are closed to the public until May 3, 2030: Correspondencia familiar; Investigación: correos electrónicos desde 1998 a 2000. This material is intellectually organized in Series 2: Correspondence, and Series 4: Family / Investigation, but physically stored in restricted boxes.

The papers contain 164 3.5" floppy disks pertaining to Gelman's human rights investigations that have been digitally preserved and are pending public access.

Conditions Governing Use

Single copies may be made for research purposes. To cite or publish quotations that fall within Fair Use, as defined under U. S. Copyright Law, no permission is required. For instances beyond Fair Use, it is the responsibility of the researcher to determine whether any permissions related to copyright, privacy, publicity, or any other rights are necessary for their intended use of the Library's materials, and to obtain all required permissions from any existing rights holders, if they have not already done so. Princeton University Library's Special Collections does not charge any permission or use fees for the publication of images of materials from our collections, nor does it require researchers to obtain its permission for said use. Características físicas y requisitos técnicos

Por razones de conservación, los archivos originales analógicos y digitales no pueden leerse ni reproducirse en la sala de lectura. Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media, but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Patrons may request digital copies of original analog media, but will be responsible for the cost of digital conversion, payable in advance. Turn-around time for such requests will depend on the size and scope of the project. Requests should be directed to Special Collections Public Services staff through the Ask Us! form.
