Abstract

This microfilm contains materials published or distributed by Protestant organizations in Cuba. Many are published or printed by independent evangelical groups but distributed by various Protestant denominations or individual churches.

Collection Description & Creator Information

Scope and Contents

This microfilm contains materials published or distributed by Protestant organizations in Cuba. Many are published or printed by independent evangelical groups but distributed by various Protestant denominations or individual churches; this is indicated on the inventory of those items. In the cases of certain denominations, such as the Baptist or Methodist Churches, there may be several files pertaining to that particular denomination. The first is a general file pertaining to that denomination, and all subsequent ones represent either different branches of the same denomination (e.g.: Southern Baptists, Free Will Baptists, or American Baptists), or individual churches of that denomination that publish a significant amount of material (e.g.: Iglesia Metodista Central "La Trinidad", or Iglesia Metodista Universitaria "Miguel Soto Asensi").

Most of the Protestant denominations represented in this microfilm have counterparts in English-speaking countries, and so, for the convenience of the researcher, their names are listed in English. However, there are also many independent Cuban churches, such as the Iglesia Apostólica de Dios de la Profecia, that may be unique to the island. While their names could be translated, this might be misleading. Therefore, their names are listed in Spanish in the microfilm inventory.

The Protestant serials, Heraldo Cristiano, Juprecu and Su Voz, which were formerly filmed under the title "Protestant Serials in Cuba", have been included here and will be included in future microfilms in this series. Two other serials, Mensaje and Salvación, which were also part of the in the "Protestant Serials in Cuba" microfilm series, will be included from now on in the series of microfilms entitled "Non-denominational Christian Organizations in Cuba". This latter series deals with ecumenical and evangelical organizations which are not known to be associated specifically with either Protestant or Catholic churches, but which are, rather, concerned with Christianity in Cuba in general.

Arrangement

Publications are listed alphabetically by publishing organization, if possible, or, if the publisher is unknown, by the organization that distributes them.
