Collection Description & Creator Information

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of miscellaneous anonymous playscripts, arranged alphabetically by title, that are largely undated but appear to range from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century (1942). Most are typed or mimeographed and bound, though a few are handwritten in composition books. The majority are stamped with the name of a theatrical agency (about 80% from "Howard & Doyle Theatrical Agents, Chicago"). Most scripts are American in origin; a very small number appear to be British or European. Sample titles include "The Cotton King," "A Legal Wreck," "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," and "Erma the Elf."

Arrangement

Arranged alphabetically by title.
