Albums are arranged chronologically into three folders.

Scope and Contents

Consists of three photograph albums containing 148 albumen and gelatin silver snapshots. Two of the albums were compiled by Mackenzie and apparently document a single trip across Europe and the United States with images of cities, mines, and people encountered along the way. Many images have manuscript captions. A third album was apparently owned by Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Churchil of Muskogee, Oklahoma, of scenes in the West as well as Native Americans. Contains typescript captions.

Collection Creator Biography:

Mackenzie, George L. (George Law).

George Law MacKenzie was a student at the Institution of Mining Engineers (Great Britain) as well as an elected member of the Geological Society of London (1902).

Colonel Frank C. Churchill was employed by the United States Indian Agency and was known to travel with his wife Clara to observe and photograph Native American life across the North American continent.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.
